Maiden Voyage ......& a surprise visitor!

The clip above shows only the beauty of the sail, not the rest of the story.....{we always miss the good parts when recording, like when I went overboard.....but that's a whole other story}

If I had to sum up our maiden voyage into 2 words, it would simply be described as a Beautiful Disaster! ;)

First of all, let me say, nothing "bad" happened. There was no actual disaster....but it felt a bit like one and I'm sure it probably seemed like one for anyone who might have been looking our way. With that said, we had a beautiful sail!!

It started out great. We motored out of the channel, put the jib out, killed the engine and we were sailing, it was great! Then, the wind changed directions. Hubs had to readjust the sails so he tells me to take the wheel. Seems harmless, right? Who knew this would be where the story unfolds.... I am now at the helm, steering a sailboat for the first time in my life with no sailing experience whatsoever. He had said, keep us going straight. Ok! Turn a little left, go a little right, overall, I thought I was doing a pretty good job. He looks back to see me turning the wheel, (ever so slightly, I might add) and yells at me to turn the wheel in the other direction. Well I did, but apparently, I didn't turn it the "right way" & got yelled at again, this time though, he says, "it's just like driving a car!" So I replied, er, yelled back, "I don't know about you, but I don't drive my car in the direction of the wind!"

:} I can laugh about it now, but I was a hot mess that day. Luckily, things are getting better & hubs has more patience with me and my lack of sailing experience {most days, anyways}. He's that type of person who only has to do something one time & then is a professional after that, I however am not! Ugh, drives me crazy....good thing I really love him!!!

We saw this cute lil' guy on our second cruise!!! Joe's parents had come for a visit and the dolphins were all around us!! <3 dolphins....hope I can get a better shot next time.

Welcome to our blog!

Hello & welcome to our blog about living aboard our Catalina sailboat! We have dreams of sailing off to the Bahamas', but for now, we are land-locked at the marina while hubs' continues to work. If you listen real closely you can hear him saying, "someone's got to work around here."  Haha!! He's a real comedian, that one! :}

Thank-you for checking out our site! We ahem, I am working at getting the blog up & running....be sure to come back often & see what's new with our journey!

Thanks for stopping by :)
